Stables
The Yard comprises a total of 31 large, light and well ventilated stables with sophisticated Security including Intruder Alert and 24 hour CCTV Surveillance and Fire Alarm systems.
Every stable has Kraiburg rubber matting on the floor and Stokbord on the walls for added protection. Some of the stables in the Barn have the added advantage of a window at the back of the stable.
Use of the 20m x20m Ecotrack Lunge Arena and covered 5 horse Claydon Horse Walker is included in all the livery packages.
Cross Country
The Cross Country comprises six courses with varied and interesting fences in all heights from 30cm to 1m. Please click on our gallery to view some sample photos. There are two water jumps, ditches and a bank, open for schooling and hire between Spring and Autumn, with regular competitions held during these months. There are plans to construct more ditches and a second bank complex with steps and drops in the near future .
To book please email from the contact page, giving your full name, the date and time you would like to book, the number of horses you’re bringing and your mobile number. The course is open from 8am till 8pm, start times are allocated at half hour intervals with the last booking at 6.30pm, there is no time limit on the course. Cross Country hire is £25 per horse.

Please watch this space for updates on any days we will be closed*** Apologies, there are NO DOGS allowed on the Cross Country Course, dogs on short leads are permitted in the lorry park only*** All XC bookings must be accompanied by a first aider, discounted rate available for groups of 4 or more coming with an insured instructor***
Arena and Showjumping
Facilities at Wheatlands Farm include a 60m x 30m waxed Protrak arena with mirrors and a set of Jump 4 Joy jumps all year round. Work on the second arena, 50m x25m with Activ-trak surface is now complete, this arena is for flatwork so kept empty of jumps. Both arenas are available for hire all year round. During some summer months the set of timber BSJA standard jumps are set up on grass and also available to hire.

Summer SJ school hire is £15 for half an hour for 1 or 2 horses or £30 for 1 hour with up to 4 horses. Winter SJ school hire is available for £20 for half an hour for 1 or 2 horses or £40 for 1 hour with up to 4 horses. Summer flatwork arena is available for £20 for half an hour for 1 or 2 horses or £40 for 1 hour with up to 4 horses.
About Nicola
Nicola is a BHSII reg’d instructor and also holds the UKCC3. She teaches adults and children at all levels increasing confidence and competence whilst helping them to achieve their individual goals. Nicola is an experienced Pony Club B test trainer and examiner for Area 13, she also course builds and guest instructs for PC local branches.
Nicola studied at Talland and Warwickshire college and has been teaching since 1992. She gives instruction in all disciplines here at Wheatlands Farm and on request at various local /BE Cross Country venues.
Staff Training
The staff at Wheatlands Farm have the opportunity to train for the BHSAI exams and the NVQ levels 2 and 3 through the Keits Apprenticeship Scheme. Nicola provides the training for the staff, giving them the benefit of her experience in stable management, flatwork and jumping. As the Keits syllabus is based on experience in the work place, the course is largely practical however the theory is also covered. Lungeing and producing the young horse are also included in the training.
